Reflections on my life from my perspective.

Storm

Driving in from Dallas on Saturday night we got to see an incredible storm develop and move through south Tulsa. Wall clouds, funnel clouds, and lots of lightning. It was a little scary at times (we pulled over about 5 miles from the storm with lots of other people on the highway), but mostly just intense and awesome. We got to our house and there were only a few drops of rain. I found out on Sunday that some homes were damaged not too far from where we live. I have definately gained a whole new perspective and appreciation for weather since we moved to Oklahoma.

I am off to Colorado today for a few days at Group Publishing. I am helping to promote and host a new seminar they are starting this year for youth workers. I'm looking forward to a couple of cool days in the mtns.

*High School Students: Don't forget that Heirborne starts at 6:30pm this week. See you on Wednesday. Peace.

Driving South

We are headed down to Texas today to see my brother and sister-n-law and other family members. We probably won't get to see the babies. I think they only let parents and grandparents in with the babies. My nieces are doing ok; both have now had heart surgery, they have trouble breathing, and Kamalyn (the smallest) has an infection, but they are growing. There is nothing we can do, but pray and wait. We wait day to day, and sometimes hour to hour to see how they are doing. My bother and sister-n-law are so faithful and they have a great hope that keeps us all going. I am longing for the day when I get to hold those little girls and tell them how many people prayed for them.

My fiend (actually "friend", sorry Shane) Shane has a great blog. You should definately check it out.

Troy

I went to see the new blockbuster Troy last week while I was in Nashville. I would have to say it was OK. Not great, not bad; just OK. I think I was expecting a more visually gratifying cinematography, like Gladiator, or Dances With Wolves, or even LOTR, but Troy just didn't deliver. But the story was good; I guess that's why they call it a classic.

*I've updated my books section. Some good reads over there.

Thanks- God is hearing your prayers

Thanks to everyone for your prayers for my nieces. The larger had heart surgery last week, but it went great and she is doing much better. They are both doing pretty well right now and actually growing a little. But, I guess when your really little, then growing a little is really a lot. Keeping praying.

Back Home

I'm back home from the Emergent Convention in Nashville. My mind has been stretched and mushed. I was priveledged to be a part of some great discussions on how to bring the gospel to a new world. And I think I'm just beginning to realize how new it is. I'll post some specific thoughts on the Convention as I have time and as I unpack them. Overall, hanging out with guys like Brian McLaren, Tony Jones, Doug Pagitt and others who think in ways I'm not very used to has been a great blessing. Most interesting moment of the convention for me: worship led by a DJ (Andy Hunter). Wow, that was new...and wonderful.

Emergent Convention

Today I am headed to Nashville for the Emergent Convention, a group of folks trying to think differently about church. I am looking forward to some hearty discussion and head-pounding questions. I am going to make an attempt to update some of the things that are going on at the convention on my blog. Should be lots of fun.

**Special Note- I don't know who all reads this blog, but if you are a praying person, would you please pray for my brother's two new babies. My nieces were born last week very, very premature. They weighed 1 lb, 1 oz and 2 lbs, 5 ozs. They are sooo small and need all the help they can get to grow and make it out of the hospital. Thanks for your prayers.
