I spent most of the last two days in a Church Planting class with Gailyn Van Reenan, professor from ACU. I am very impressed with the amount of thought and work he has put into this class. He has definately impressed on me the importance of Theological Reflection when it come to church planting. Here are the six areas of Theology we reflected on today. Each of these has some significant implications for church planting in the postmodern context
  • Missio Dei (shaped by God's calling and sending)
  • Kingdom of God (reflecting God's redemptive reign in Christ)
  • Incarnation (embodying the purpose of God)
  • Crucifixion (suffering and dying for others)
  • Resurrection (overcoming suffering and death by the power of God)
  • Inspiration (guided by God through his Holy Spirit)
