I left this comment on
Mike Cope's blog today when he asked about favorite summer camp experiences. Upon some reflection, I decided to post it on my own blog as well. Thanks for asking Mike.
When I was a kid my dad took me with him to Circle C camp in Colorado. I was only about 6 or 7, and it was the most amazing thing for me to be with all the "big kids" in the mountians praising God. I'll never forget my first hike up Longs Peak with my dad during that week.
Last week I took my 5-yr-old daughter up her first hike in Colorado during a week of camp at
Whitewater Ranch, a camp in Colorado that I now help direct each year. Kids meeting with God in the mountains---it just doesn't get much better than that.
PBS recently did a story on
Emergent, the loose organization that has helped to launch the Emerging Church conversation, and challanged many of us to look at church and Christianity differntly. You can watch the full story at

I am very thankful to Brian McLaren, Tony Jones, Doug Pagitt and others who have helped me think, talk and act differently. Mostly I appriciate the feeling I get from them that I'm not crazy.
Just got home from
Whitewater Ranch, our high school camp in Colorado. It was an outstanding week....but I am so tired. Time to take a long nap.
I've been running around taking care of all the last minute details for next week's high school camp in Colorado. I am looking forward to much cooler tempertures. The forcasted high for next week at
Whitewater Ranch is 79 degrees. Oh yah!!!
Please be in prayer for our camp. Pray for safety, fun and for God to change the lives of the 180 high school students and leaders who will be at camp next week.
