I stole this out of my wife's journal. Hope she won't be too mad.
We are consumed with the thought that on our watch as "keepers of the faith" people are dying of hunger and disease that we have the money to [change]. I elieve I will be judges for these sins, and it is our collective responsibility as Christians in the 21st century to end- poverty, death by malnourishment, and curable disease. Evil works will continue by man, and we will not have a Utopia or perfect Heaven on this earth until Jesus returns, but I believe we can be Jesus to a global community and change the face of the Earth as we now know it.

Tonight my wife and I got to hear a cool indie, folk, blues band called Not Called Common
. Check out the powerful lyrics in this song-
I see Jesus in San Francisco
At a table with guests starved for Him
By the South Bay's waterbed
And seated with Him, at that table
Is the world the Church has refused
All laughing, and breaking bread
I hear Jesus as they listen
Their faces are covered with a lifetime of tears
Someone else has sown
At that table, in San Francisco
Our Lord and Savior, He gives them
What the Church has never shown
Some great music, along with some rich, thoughtful lyrics. These guys are good.
You can find some other great indie bands at RelevantTV.
Or check Not Called Common's MySpace page.

I'm so glad to live in Texas. I truly appreciate the blending of cultures here.
Here's to fajitas
, and finding a way to make room for everyone!
(and yes, that is a microwave on the end of that extension cord)

The big news in youth ministry today is that Zondervan
(the giant Christian publishing company) is buying Youth Specialties
. You can read the press release
or watch a great video
of Marko (president of YS) and Tic Long talking about how this new acquisition won't bring many changes to Youth Specialties as we now know it. Youth Specialties has been a great source of strength, training and encouragement for thousands of youth ministers for over 30 years.
